The Optilab LTR-12-R series of wideband laser transceivers is designed for enabling a high-linearity optical link for RF over fiber up to 15 GHz. Additionally, it can be used as a repeater for extending transmission distance of a 20 Gb/s digital link. Based on our proprietary design, the LTR-12-R incorporates a broadband optical transmitter and linear receiver into one compact rack-mounted unit. The LTR-12-R can be used for carrying almost any type of RF modulated signals that include: RF over Fiber (RFoG), satellite/IF link, WiMax optical link, microwave over fiber and mobile signals in fiber. Using a lithium-niobate external modulator, the LTR-12-R transmit port converts input microwave/RF signals to optical waveform linearly from frequency range 100 kHz up to 15 GHz. With a broadband linear PIN receiver, LTR-12-R receive port converts the optical waveform back to RF/microwave signals with minimal distortion. The LTR-12-R maintains excellent gain flatness in wide frequency range (± 2.5 dB over 1-15 GHz). Using a very narrow linewidth DFB laser source, the LTR-12-R can transmit up to 120 km in standard SMF-28 optical fiber.
